Waimate West water factory

Today in the afternoom when myself (Jorja) and my sister (Madaline) got home from school the water was all dirty! We were wondering what had happened? Then our dad came home from the shed to come for tea, he told us that our local water treatment place the Waimate west had unfortunately  had a flood.

That meant that we had to conserve our water that we had for the moment until  we get the problem fixed. It effects most of the people around our local area Auroa and Kaponga both in Taranaki. We have jugged most of our water up and boiled it up in the jug, to get rid of any bacteria or any bad stuff in the water.

It is not usual  for our local area to have bad floods but this is one of the worst specially as it effects our drinking water, but it has been windy lately and that may of coursed some problems and could be one of the reason's. The wind had been very annoying ing especially when dad got rang up by fonterra who was collecting our milk last night at 12:00pm that a tree had fallen down and they couldn't get past to collect our cow's milk so dad was up very late last night with the tractor on the tanker track moving the tree.

Don't you think that the wind is annoying?!! Let me know if you get lots of floods where you live? or do you have very heavy wind where you are? Comment below.

Waitangi Day

This is our first week back at school and know we get an extra day off in weekends as it is a long weekend as it is Waitangi weekend.Every year on 6 February, New Zealand marks the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840. In that year, representatives of the British Crown and over 500 Māori chiefs signed what is often considered to be New Zealand’s founding document. The day was first officially commemorated in 1934, and it has been a public holiday since 1974. Also if the celebration falls on a weekend all the workers get an extra day off on Monday so every teacher and student at Auroa Primary School with be staying at home and get a extra day of rest which helps as it was a very busy first week at school. But we made it!! Do you celebrate Waitangi weekend? If you have any questions comment below let me know I love hearing from you.
